Aussie court orders Sri Lankan lawyer to return visa fees |
July 13 (ST) A Sri Lankan professional has secured a court order in Australia against a well-known Sri Lankan immigration lawyer for failing to properly file her skilled visa application. In the first instance, the Magistrate Court of Western Australia in November 2013 ordered the lawyer, who advertises his services heavily in Sri Lanka and has a large clientele, to settle the plaintiff within 30 days. Uva polls by end of September amid charges |
July 13 (ST) Elections to the Uva PC are likely to be held by the end of September following the dissolution of the council on Friday midnight, an elections official said. He said nominations would be called within a week’s time and thereafter the elections would be held on a Saturday between five to eight weeks after the closing date for nominations. 16 arrested in Katunayake brothel raid |
