According to the Excise Department, the tax on a proof litre of arrack has been increased by Rs 90 and foreign spirits by Rs 120 per litre with effect from October 10 while the tax on beer with over 5% alcohol has been increased by Rs 15 and less than 5% alcohol by Rs 10.
