SLR makes progress, cuts delays |

Oct 5 (NS) A Buddhist monk, who had allegedly defrauded Rs.7.5 million from a person after selling a plot of land belonging to a temple, has been arrested by the CID. Police said the suspect was the chief incumbent of the temple. He had sold the plot of land for Rs.7.5 million. Police Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said the monk could not sell the plot of land as it belongs to the temple and as such, its sale is prohibited under the Buddhist Temporalities Ordinance.
