Oct 29 (Island) Northern Provincial Minister of Agriculture Ponnuthurai Ayangeranesan said last week that the farmers there were looking for an entrepreneur who could add value to jumbo peanuts cultivated by them on 10,000 acres in the Mullaitivu District this Maha season. Oct 29 (DM) Sri Lanka would send another Peace Keeping Regiment to Haiti in November under a UN Peace Keeping Programme, Media Director of the Army Jayanath Jayaweera said. Rupee slips; seen lower on rising imports |
Oct 29 (Reuters) The Sri Lankan rupee traded weaker on Wednesday on importer dollar demand while moral suasion by the central bank prevented a further fall in the local currency. Dealers said the market expects the local currency to face more pressure due to rising imports and lower rates.
