Shares post near 4-month closing high
May 9 (Reuters) Shares edged up on Monday and hit their highest close in about four months, led by beverage and diversified stocks amid foreign investors' buying. Another mysterious leopard death
May 9 (DM) Another leopard was found dead on Sunday at the Albion Estate in Agarapathana, yesterday. Wildlife Director General Dr. Sumith Pilapitiya said the leopard was suspected to be poisoned. Officers have been deployed to investigate the area and we will conduct a post mortem to determine the cause of death, he said. At least 10 leopards were found dead inside tea estates in Hatton, Watawala, Agarapathana and Norwood areas during the last five months.

Ex-IGPs house robbed
May 9 (DM) Ex-IGP Victor Pereras residence in Panadura was robbed last night, police said. The robbers have made off with cash and jewellery valued about Rs. 1 million. A security officer had been on guard duty at the front entrance to the house. Therefore, the police suspect that the thieves might have entered through the rear door. Construction sites warned over dengue breeding grounds
May 9 (CG) Local Govt and Provincial Councils Minister Faiszer Musthapha today warned that measures will be taken to suspend the clearance given to construction sites in Colombo and other parts of the country if they fail to adhere to the notice issued over dengue breeding grounds. Sri Lanka businesses call for policy consistency to spur investment
May 9 (CG) Ceylon Chamber of Commerce has called for consistent and predictable govt policies to enable private sector investment, saying ad hoc changes and mixed signals were hurting confidence. President Chief Guest at International Day of the Midwife celebrations

Bomb scare was such that at one time the school rule was that our books and stationary must be carried in transparent polythene bags. Indian aid for Ramayana trail may be finalised soon
